- Components of physical condition
: elements whose efficiency is improved by training and whose
level can, be tested using specific tests. The most widely accepted
and tested components of physical condition are : muscular strength
and stamina ; the power and stamina/capacity of the anaerobic, alactic,
lactic and aerobic systems; flexibility/suppleness; body structure;
speed.
- Concentric contraction :
when a muscle generates tension whilst shortening (eg: the flexing
of the forearm on the arm is caused by concentric contraction of
the biceps).
- Constants : constants
are numerical values which never change. For example, in the formula
220-AGE, used to predict the maximum heart rate according to age,
220 is a constant.
