  • Interval training : a training method which alternates periods of high intensity work with periods of complete or active rest. This method is commonly used in training programmes which aim to improve maximum aerobic power and anaerobic abilities.


  • Isometric contraction : when a muscle generates tension without changing length (eg : during the low position of a bench-press the load is kept stationary over the chest by an isometric contraction of the scapular belt)..
