- 1MR percentage : resistance
(in kg, lb) which corresponds to a relative 1MR percentage for a
given strength exercise.
- Periodisation : cyclical
structure or organisation of long and short term training programmes,
in order to produce optimal performance whilst diminishing the risk
of injuries and illness. Synonym: training planning.
- Physical conditioning :
planned and systematic physical training.
- Physical fatigue : individual
and subjective perception of a person's state of physical fatigue.
A high level of physical fatigue means that the person is subject
to physical stress, perhaps due to bad recuperation after the previous
training session, or physically demanding work. If the level of
physical fatigue is very high for 2 to 3 days in succession, a reduction
in training load or a rest day is recommended. Too many 'difficult'
days can have a negative influence on performance and is often a
precursor to over training and associated problems. In order to
evaluate accurately the state of physical fatigue, it should be
measured every day at the same time.
- Pliometry : motor
actions involving an eccentric muscular contraction followed immediately
by a very fast and very strong concentric muscle contraction. Squat
jumps and burpees are examples of pliometric exercises.
- Power : work carried
out per unit of time, expressed by the formula: W=F/t , where: Work
(W)=Force(F) divided by time(t).
